Appointment of Team Rector

We are delighted to announce that, following interview and with the unanimous approval of the Oakham Patronage Board, the Reverend Stephen Griffiths has accepted Bishop Donald’s invitation to be Team Rector of Oakham. Subject to the normal Church of England legal and administrative procedures, Stephen will be Instituted and Inducted by the Bishop of Peterborough and the Archdeacon of Oakham in All Saints, Oakham on Sunday 23 September at 3 pm.

Stephen is currently Team Rector of the Cherwell Valley Benefice and the Rural Dean of Bicester and Islip in the Diocese of Oxford. He is married to Cally and they have two young children, Jonathan and Alexander. Stephen writes: “We are very much looking forward to our move to Oakham and getting to know you all. I was delighted to be asked to serve as your Team Rector, which confirmed the call that God placed in my heart. May God guide us all on the next stage of the journey and bless us as we walk together in faith and fellowship.”

Bishop Donald and Archdeacon Gordon are very grateful to all who helped with the preparation of the benefice profile, all the arrangements for the interview day and for the continuing and encouraging ministry of the team in the service of Christ during the vacancy. We ask your prayers for Stephen and his family as they prepare to move to Oakham.

The Venerable Gordon Steele
Archdeacon of Oakham
