On Bank Holiday Monday, 1st May we held our annual Open Gardens and Artisan Stalls. 450 visitors attended the event and £4,360 was raised for the Church and Village Hall.
All the seven gardens that were open to the public looked amazing on the day. This was due of course to many months of hard work by their owners. Our Artisan Stalls and Display of Super Cars also contributed plenty of new interest for visitors.
Visitor numbers were down on previous years which may have been due to the weather. Many villages generously donated homemade food for both the Village Hall catering and the Cake Stall which took £1,282 and £449 respectively. A raffle prize of Lunch at Hambleton Hall was kindly donated by Tim Hart and made £346. The gate which was manned on a rota basis by villagers, made £1,822.
At 7pm on Friday 16th June the Village will be hosting an Evening with Tim Appleton MBE at the Village Hall. Tim will give an illustrated talk on the Rutland Water Bird Reserve. Tickets are £25 and include wine, canapes and a buffet supper and are available by emailing Miranda Hall at firstname.lastname@example.org
Roof repairs continue at St Andrew’s Church with completion due at the end of July.
